Acts 9:15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
When Paul was on the Damascus road and a light shone on him from heaven, Paul fell to the ground and he immediately recognized this was the LORD speaking to him. In Acts 9 verse 5-6 Paul asked “Who are you LORD?” Paul was so astonished and acknowledged God as LORD with fear and trembling. He was facing the very same Lord that he persecuted against.
Paul wasn’t able to see for 3 days. (Jesus died and was resurrected 3 days later). The number 3 means solid and complete.
2 Timothy 1 tells us, not only was it the WILL of God, but it was also a PROMISE of life that Paul would be an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord knew that after 3 days Paul’s transformation would be complete. This would be a solid transformation in order to take on the assignment the Lord had ordained and set apart for Paul.
This is why, after the 3rd day, Paul received his sight back. But it was more than the natural sight, it was the spiritual sight that made Paul the great apostle and with the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, Paul went on to preach and teach with boldness considering all else a loss for the sake of gaining.
It took the Lord 3 days to transform Paul. When Ananias was instructed by the Lord to inquire at the house of Judas for Paul, Paul was already being transformed. Paul was Praying at the same time the Lord was giving Ananias instruction. Paul was already receiving visions. (Verse 12).
As soon as Ananias laid hands on Paul, the scales were removed from his eyes and he received the power of the anointing upon his life. He received the baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT.
Acts 9 verse 19 tells us when Paul received food, he was strengthened. Now, when we are starving, we eat and we gain energy. But the food that Paul received was the same food that we must not only eat, but feast on. Paul was fed by the BREAD OF LIFE which immediately strengthened him. I love that Saul’s name which means “asked for/prayed for” was changed to Paul which means “humble.”
I also love that God referred to Saul as His chosen instrument.
Such a transformation can ONLY be made by a Loving God who changes us just as he changed Saul to Paul. He chose us because He not only loved us, but He also knows our potential! My Brethren, there is a promise upon our lives just as there was one over Paul's.
May our spiritual eyes be opened by the God who has a vision for us, and may we respond to His audible voice and be transformed.
